Three crrrazy kiddos!

Although he is not yet crawling, The Bean is able to get anywhere he wants to go! He scoots around the house finding absolutely everything that he shouldn't have! From paper to "stuff from nature" (as Zam terms it) Ziko loves to eat everything BUT baby food. As we put him down on the ground to explore we often remark that we are putting him down "to graze."
Ziko is also quite thrilled about his one big, white chomper (tooth) that is protruding out of his bottom gum and is constantly making sure it is still there by feeling it with his tongue. More teeth are definitly on the way!

Bruce's "Ice of Dreams!" With a little help from Yellowknife's recycle-friendly dump, Bruce has created our very own "Borden Gardens" in the back yard. Hizee had the inaugural skate on Friday while Bruce was at work and Zam was at school.

Hizee has entered the "posing for picture" stage of her life and we are quite happy to whip out the camera and oblige!

When the third child comes along you're forced to do a lot of multi-tasking. Thus, we've started washing our dishes and Ziko at the same time.

Zam has requested a ghost cotume for several years now and this year his dream of becoming a ghost finally came true! It was cute to hear the remarks of one of his school mates on the night of his school's Halloween dance. As we approached the school entrance the child turned to his mom and exclaimed,"Hey look mom, a good old fashioned ghost!"

Hizee grasped the full spirit of Halloween this year. Her "twick or tweets" were priceless!

It's not my party but I can cry if I want to...I'm all partied out!

Cranberry Heaven!

Although a rare occurance, polar bears have been known to wander out of their territory and into the Yellowknife area. We spotted this male bear taking a dip at Madeline Lake during our canoeing/cranberry picking adventure. Fortunately, the bear posed no threat and, in fact, took a break from his usual carnivorous diet to join us in a feast of berries!

Where's Ziko?

Zam's big first day!
Zam is really enjoying kindergarten. Some of the highlights so far are: gym class, baking cookies, family pic nic in the gym, studying the letter M, and a berry picking field trip. Zam goes to school every day, all day, so it is quite a big adjustment from his former leisurely lifestyle which involved waking up when he pleased and playing with his prized Bionicles for hours on end. You're doing great Zammer...way to go!

Hizee is thoroughly enjoying being the only "big kid" at home during the day. Although she often mentions that she misses Zam, I think that all of the one on one attention that she now receives (as Ziko still naps a lot) far outweighs her longings for her big brother.

With her baby brother all to herself, it's time to get serious about caring for him!
Although Ziko is now over six months old he has very little interest in solid food. That didn't seem to phase Hizee as she proceeded to lovingly force spoonful after spoonful of baby cereal past his pursed lips!

Ziko is working toward mastering the art of levitation.

The weather has been great up here and, thus, we've been able to do a lot of canoeing. The landscape is covered with hundreds of lakes, many within minutes of our house. This is great when you have a baby who hates car rides but loves riding in the canoe!
